NACCA cautions pre-tertiary teachers against the use of unapproved textbooks

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has noticed that some schools (both private and public kindergarten, primary, Junior, and senior high) are uSing unapproved books. Additionally, some individuals and publishing companies arc advertising unapproved books across the country. One of such books is “Golden

History of Ghana for Basic 6′ published by Golden Publications and authored by Mercy Gyaa-Adiyiah.

NACCA clarifies the Ongoing High School Curriculum Reforms

NaCCA wishes to inform all heads of pre-tertiary schools (both private and public).
parents/guardians, publishers
as well as the general public that it is illegal to use unapproved books (textbooks and supplementary readers) in pre-tertiary schools.

The agency will soon embark on random visits to pre-tertiary schools. Any school found to be using unapproved books shall be brought to book. Similarly, drastic measures shall be taken against the publishers of such books.

NaCCA is the institution mandated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023) to approve all
teaching and learning materials for use in pre-tertiary schools in Ghana. These include but not limited to Textbooks

Supplementary materials
E-materials or digital content
Non-text materials such as manipulatives, puzzles, games cte

The list of approved books can be accessed on the agency’s official website (http:/www.acca.gov.gh. Further inquiries can be made via info@nacca.gh and +233302909071 between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm on all
working days.

NACCA releases first batch of recommend textbooks for basic schools

We hope that heads of schools. parents/guardians and the general public will cooperate with NaCCA to ensure improvement in the delivery of quality education for all learners.
